About Me

I am seventeen years old, currently in my first year of sixth form, living in England.

I completed Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and French at AS level. Currently, I am studing Maths, Biology and Chemistry for my A2 year, along with completing an extended project qualification (EPQ) on Phage Therapy.

I have worked as a volunteer at a Marie Curie hospice. More recently I started volunteering for a local charity for disabled children, spending my Friday evenings completing activities with them.

I have also completed work experience in London, with two consultants and a medical student (shadowing her as she completed a research project), and also work experience in Nottingham, shadowing another consultant for the day and later being invited back by him to complete a day of research related to mindfulness and its effects on Multiple Sclerosis. This summer I also completed a weeks work experience at a Birmingham hospitalm, shadowing many junior doctors.

In that little free time I have I attempt to get involved in as many projects and opportunities that I can find, whether that be the school pantomime, cross country team, Chronicle team, or even smaller tasks such as helping organise the years assembly. However, my proudest creation is creating the school's debate society, with the help of my friend, in which there is a debate every Tuesday, with topics ranging from "should criminals be labelled such for the rest of their lives?" to "should music videos be censored?" to the classic "should euthanasia be legal?".

As any typical teenager I also love movies, music and reading, yet I do try and link these hobbies to a future in medicine, reading medical novels and watching movies slightly related to medicine where possible. I also love the internet, and this has led me to create this blog, where you can find out more about my journey (or steps as the title suggests) to becoming a future medical student and one day hopefully a successful doctor.
